For over 100 years Rotary has lived by the motto ‘Service above self’, and for over 50 years Rotaract has followed in their footsteps to benefit the community by doing what we can to help others. Rotaractors firmly believe that the world becomes a better place when everybody is more accepting, inviting and inclusive, and the Rotaract Club of Brisbane Rivercity is no different.
The Rotaract Club of Brisbane Rivercity is proud to give our members regular opportunities to volunteer their time. Below are some of the amazing opportunities that the Rotaract Club of Brisbane Rivercity has been fortunate to be involved with over the past couple of years.
MND & ME
Corporate Swim-a-thon
“A not for profit organisation formed to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and its impact in the community. The founder saw a desperate need to assist people living with MND, and their families, to maintain their independence and quality of life for as long as possible.”
“The MND and Me Foundation is a significant financial contributor towards research into finding a cure for MND. In addition to raising funds to ensure a cure for MND is realised, the Foundation remains committed to improving the lives of those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.”
The Common Good
The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation
“For 30 years, The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation has brought the iconic Strawberry Sundaes to the Royal Brisbane Show to raise money for medical research. Each year over 2,000 volunteers help us make this the best event of the year. “
Clean Up Australia Day
2019-2022
“Clean Up Australia inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.”
Donning their gloves and rolling up their sleeves, the Rotaract Club of Brisbane Rivercity has helped clean up major parks in and around Brisbane in the name of a cleaner – and safer – environment.
District Tree Planting
2018 - 2022
Working with Rotary and Rotaract clubs in the District to honour Rotary’s commitment to environmental sustainability, Rivercity has helped planted thousands of trees across Brisbane – from Upper Kedron to Mansfield – to help rehabilitate areas to promote the recovery of the local ecosystem.
